MAMMAL- (My Band) - ‘The War' - Bass Playthrough - With My 2003 Warwick Thumb - Kade Turner

'The War' was released on ANZAC Day here in Australia. Mammal felt this day and date to be quite fitting, considering what the song is about. I'm super stoked on my bass tone. This was a little difficult to get the right blend. The mastered release is great for the band, but being a playthrough I wanted the bass louder. I had to organise the final mix before mastering tracks and blend me in. Too loud and you hear noise, too quiet and it loses the impact. This was not as straight forward as it would seem, always a little different mixing a bands playthrough as opposed blending in over a cover. I'm pumped to hear and see my 2003 Warwick Thumb shine here haha! The Mesa Boogie gear, the DI's, and the ambient room/cab mic seemed to stand out for me. It's almost a dirty tone, but I can assure you it's clean and not over-driven.
