Self-harm is common in young people with depression and anxiety but it also affects people of all ages. So what is self-harm? Self-harm also known as self injury is deliberately hurting your own body, such as cutting or burning, in a way to cope with emotional pain, intense anger or frustrations. While it is true that anyone can be affected by self-harm, some people are more likely to self-harm than others because of things that have happened in their lives such as their childhood, family, or friends.
