The Music of Sidney Lanier (1842-1881): Celebrating His 168th Birthday at the Sidney Lanier Performing Arts Center, Central High School, Macon, Georgia, February 7, 2010. Sidney Lanier's composition, Blackbirds, is performed by renowned Boston-based flutist and Alfred G. Badger flute scholar, Peter H. Bloom, on a historic Badger flute (c. 1874). Mr. Bloom also treated the audience with a Melody and Improvisation, playing Lanier's original Badger flute.
