This is the flag of Northern Ireland, the white flag with a red X in the center. This is the flag of Wales, the flag half green and half white background with the red dragon in the center. This is the flag of Scotland, the blue flag with a white X in the center. Ok, enough with the flags. These four countries are actually four states within the United Kingdom, the flag you definitely know, the Union Jack, is the flag of the union in which all states are housed within, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. sometimes referred to as just Britain, is not a country, but rather a union that houses the countries of England, Wales and Scotland within it’s shores. Finally, the British Isles is the name of the group of islands located off the shores of the north western corner of mainland Europe.
