SBS - John Rabe, The Good Nazi of Nanking (3/8)
A documentary broadcasted on SBS. (3/8) Summary from the official SBS website: He is revered in China as a Buddha, as the "Schindler of Nanking". But his deeds have barely been recognised in the West. By the time Japanese troops marched into Nanjing, Rabe had set up an "international safety zone" in which residents found refuge. He defended this area with courage and his party membership pin. But Hitler and Siemens simply abandoned Rabe for his humanitarian actions. He died in Berlin in 1950, ill and impoverished. After decades of silence, Siemens has begun to recognise the efforts of its one-time employee - the "Good Man of Nanking".
