Marie Laveau (September of Songs - 4 - 2022)
Marie Laveau was an actual person of history and I learned about her first as the subject of the Bobby Bare tune “Another Man Done Gone,” which was a favorite of my PaPa’s. Last year I listened to a special about the historical character on the podcast “Our Fake History” and it got me to thinking about a good witchy song and this one was born. The real Marie was more of a natural healer/doctor than a witch it seems but you should listen to that show some time for the full story. Anyhow - here’s mine. With a few flubs…
