Lagrave showed in this game persistence with his Berlin engame variation and could convert his slightly advantage into an won endgame. Congratulations to Mxime Vachier-Lagrave for making this very important point for the OSG Baden-Baden. ► Subscribe our channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/GRENKEChess ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the second day of the central finals in Berlin, there was a great crowd. The chess fans came to see especially the stars in the top fight between OSG Baden-Baden and SV Hockenheim. For the defending champion, Levon Aronian started for the first time this season. The Armenian superstar had to deal with Evgeny Tomashevsky, who warmed up the day before with his victory at the Blitz tournament in honour of Emanuel Lasker. This game ended in a draw, just like the fight on board three between Alexander Moiseenko and Peter Svidler. Alexei Shirov and Jan Gustafsson then took the lead in Baden-Baden. Shirov countered David Baramidze in an Italian game, while Gustafsson successfully hunted Braun's black checkers. However, the match had not yet been decided, as Ivan Saric shortened the match by beating Etienne Bacrot. The Croatian Grand Master is currently swimming on a wave of success. He won the European men's championship in Batumi, then the Croatian championship for the third time and in the SBL he trades at 9.0 points out of eleven matches. Those were more than enough reasons to question him in front of the camera. Rainer Buhmann even managed to equal the score for Hockenheim, but at that point the battle for Baden-Baden was over. Maxime Vachier-Lagrave prevailed with his queen against David Howell's tower and Michael Adams with rook against bishop, although Dennis Wagner still had two more pawns.
