BossVille - Downtown Arena [No Commentary]
This is my blind playthrough of the BossVille map Downtown Arena by Strontvlieg. I like it when maps start out with a little puzzle to recovery weapons and abilities almost in a mini Metroidvania style. Downtown Arena was the most polished overall experience in BossVille, but subjectively it was dragged down by two factors. It felt extremely similar to some of Strontvlieg's earlier maps. This by itself isn't a bad thing: the author has established a clear style and a consistent level of quality. However, it did leave me wishing for some more. Additionally, Downtown Arena didn't establish any new boss monster. That was not a requirement of the challenge, but it was something I was hoping to see personally. It's not a serious criticism because the way Strontvlieg implemented the three boss npcs from Half-Life 2 was very well executed. (Though I did wish I could use the mounted gun to take out the gunship and helicopter)
