Vita M. Ostrowski
Vita Marie (Rallo) Ostrowski, 83, beloved wife of Edwin J. Ostrowski, of North Port, FL and Avon, CT, passed away Sunday October 19, 2014 at home, surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Waterbury, she was a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Carmela (Laudicina) Rallo. She and her husband lived in Avon for over 40 years spending winters in North Port, FL and summers in Stoddard, NH before retiring to Florida. Vita graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing and received her BSN from St. Joseph College, West Hartford. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Francis Hospital, John Dempsey Hospital, and the former Mount Sinai and McCook Hospitals. She served as the public health nurse at Roaring Brook School, Avon and the Farmington Valley VNA. After retirement from 1988-1994, she had her most memorable experiences at the Lattimer Lane Elementary School in Simsbury. She loved working there because it was like having 622 grandchildren to be with every day. An active parishioner of the Church of Saint Ann in Avon, she served as a Lector, Cantor, and Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the Avon Music Makers. Besides her husband of 61 years Edwin, she leaves three sons Paul D. Ostrowski and his wife Ines of Avon, Peter J. Ostrowski of Unionville, and Mark J. Ostrowski and his wife Michelle of Grosse Point, MI; six grandchildren Evan and Erica, David and Brian, Mia and Lila; a brother Vito F. Rallo of Shrewsbury, MA and Angelina F. Rallo of Avon. Her family will receive friends Wednesday Oct. 22, 2014 from 5-8 pm at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. Family and friends may gather Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 at 9 am at Carmon’s followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road, Avon.
