Music Chat: Dave's Do-It-Yourself Guide to Renaissance Polyphony

In this chat, I offer a quick and simple way to get to know a hellacious amount of music--and the folks who wrote it. We'll explore about three centuries' worth of glorious vocal polyphony dating from the end of the Middle Ages to the start of the baroque period (around 1600). You'll get to hear samples (courtesy of Naxos Records) of music by Machaut, Dufay, Josquin, Palestrina, and encounter a rich roster of additional names, from Ockeghem to Obrecht to Morales, Busnois, and Pipelare. Just sit back, relax, and open your ears.
