Jason Moran | Follow the Light
NEC Jazz faculty member Jason Moran, world-renowned pianist and composer, performs his original piece "Follow the Light." This performance had its world premiere during the November 2, 2020 broadcast of First Monday at Jordan Hall. At the time, Jason shared, "It's not so much a piece as it is a feeling... a piece to combat the dark seasons we are experiencing." He also shared the following words in accompaniment with the piece (seen also at the start of the video): Follow the Light. There is a scent in the sound. Crisp and greasy. And for now, it carries the day. Some ask to stop and listen, others ask to stop listening. I know light when it attacks, in E. I believe when I follow. - JM.
