Rose Gardening with Dan Faflak

This presentation was recorded on May 18, 2013 at the annual Master Gardeners of the Ozarks Garden Tour. This year the Garden Tour event was held at Five Oaks Farms in Forsyth, Missouri, in the SW part of the state. Five Oaks Farms is the estate of Tony and Robin Collier. They are the owners of National Enzyme Company in Forsyth, Missouri. Their 142 acre estate includes 25 acres of manicured lawns, gardens and a commercial hydroponic lettuce production facility. The event featured 6 speakers on a variety of topics as well as tours of the gardens, greenhouse and other facilities at Five Oaks. This is the fifth video of the series. In the video, Dan covers everything you might want to know about rose gardening. ABOUT DAN FAFLAK: Dan grew up in northern Minnesota and at a young age was in 4-H and farmed with his family. His interest in horticulture continues with growing many varieties of plants and vegetables and at times selling at farmer's markets. He was a Florida Master Gardener for over 10 years. An interest in roses started in 1965 and continues today. In Florida, Dan had up to 350 plants on five acres! He moved to the Table Rock Lake area in Missouri in 2002 and later he and his wife of 58 years moved to Springfield, still growing roses, many in containers. He has been a member of the American Rose Society for over 40 years, serving in numerous local and district positions. He is now a three year member of the Greene County Master Gardeners of Springfield, Missouri. ABOUT MASTER GARDENERS OF THE OZARKS: The mission of the University of Missouri Extension Master Gardener volunteer program is to provide horticultural information and training to the gardening public based on proven research specific to the local climate, soil and plants. Master Gardeners of the Ozarks mission is to help others learn to grow. Master Gardeners involve people in improving the quality of life and enhancing the economy and environment through horticultural education. The proceeds from this and other annual events sponsored by Master Gardeners of the Ozarks help us to maintain a scholarship for agricultural students at College of the Ozarks in SW Missouri.
