Internet groups whose aim is to prove that there is a police state in New Mexico often skew the facts or even completely falsify information in an effort to sensationalize the news and push their agenda. The fact is, you cannot report that Gilbert Serrano was "unarmed" as he was in a vehicle and was evading arrest. A vehicle should always be considered a deadly weapon. Further, the internet groups claim that James Boyd was unarmed, when in fact, the mentally ill man was brandishing knives during his confrontation with Albuquerque Police Department.
