Rebooting the Laser Printer
I don't know why our Brother HL-3170CDW goes offline and then can't be printed to, but turning it off and back on again makes it work. It seems this circuit is pretty bad, so the UPS kicks in every time the printer heats up the fuser (no, the printer isn't plugged into the UPS).
