1928 Francisco Simplicio Classical Guitar
This magnificent instrument may very well stand alone in the oeuvre of Francisco Simplicio. Far from his elaborately inlayed and decorated models, this is a true player's guitar with modern horsepower and old world tone and beauty. The previous Simplicio I represented, the 1931 ex Rey de la Torre is quite similar in many ways and equally magnificent but this guitar is far more pristine in it's condition and is one of the finest sounding and playing guitars I have had the pleasure of experiencing. While Frank does a far better job of getting across why this guitar is so wonderful, I can add some of my own thoughts. The depth and nuance of tone available is incredible, the best of an old world, traditional spruce top guitar. The evenness of it's response puts it in the same league as a great Hauser Senior. The speed and clarity of the attack is almost flamenco like while the first string seems to get more powerful the farther up you go. This guitar perfectly sits on the fine line between many attributes that are considered diametrically opposed and does it with grace and charm. One of my all time favorite guitars, it is an honor to have it around to play and study. This guitar is currently available for sale, any interested parties please contact me at aarongreenguitars@gmail.com www.aarongreenguitars.com www.vintageclassicalguitars.net www.frankwallace.com
