In Came'ltoon Once More [434-435]
This is the Scottish answer to the Welsh song, "In Swansea Town Once More" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyIbPXMFHlU (Note 1: "Cam'eltoon" = Campbeltown); Note 2: I made sure to wear the same shirt.) This was a contribution sent in to Hugill, who says it was the song of the fishermen of Campbeltown. The melody does have what I would call a Scottish quality to it. The rhythm of the notation suggested to me that it might be sung in the sort of quick, jerky pace of the strathspey dance. Hugill never does say if or what work task this was used for; it could work well for capstan heaving.
