Amsterdam Reads Presents World War II at Home and Abroad

The spotlight was on World War Two veterans at a program January 22, 2012 at Amsterdam's Century Club. The event was sponsored by Amsterdam Reads as the community is reading a book about World War Two. Among the veterans who spoke to the crowd were former POWs John Trzaskos and Mario Checca, plus Bill Johnson, Ray Gralewski, Joel Kaplan, John Shuler and Ed Steiner. Harry Bowhall talked about the war on the home front, in particular an organization called Bundles for Britain. Amsterdam author Robert N. Going and City Historian Robert von Hasseln discuss Amsterdam's role in World War II.
