Want To Be Wanted
"Want To Be Wanted" Music: Joe Curiale/David Lasley Words: David Lasley/Robin Lerner © Joe Curiale Music/Gold Horizon Music Corp. Irving-Almo Music//Robin Lerner Vocal: David Lasley Background Vocals: David Lasley and Charlotte Crossley All keyboards: Joe Curiale EMU SP-12 drum programming: Joe Curiale Guitar: Pierre Gautier I was thrilled to get the opportunity to write a song with David Lasley, a singer/songwriter of such extraordinary talent it would be too difficult to accurately state. A natural talent of the highest order, he co-wrote the hit song, “Lead Me On” for Maxine Nightingale, “JoJo” for Boz Scaggs, and “You Bring Me Joy” for Anita Baker, to name a just a few. Many have seen him year after year as a background singer on James Taylor’s tours. David is truly an American treasure and a gift to the world and I’m grateful to another one of my talented collaborators, Roxanne Seaman, for the introduction many years ago. I was also fortunate that David brought along his good friend, Charlotte Crossley to the recording session to sing background vocals. Charlotte is a legendary singer who gained early recognition as one of Bette Midler’s background singers, the “Harlettes” (1972–1978), and was an actress in “Sister Act.” Her credits are a mile long and for good reason. “Thank you” Charlotte. Lastly, Canadian guitarist, Pierre Gautier, lived in L.A. for a brief time, and I was very fortunate to work with him quite a bit. Despite L.A. having an abundance of monstrous guitar players, Pierre had something very special of his own and he quickly became one of my favorites. He never failed to make my tracks shine brighter. After leaving L.A. for his Montreal home, he joined Celine Dion in the late 80s and has been with her for many years. You can see him on many of her concert DVDs. He sounds better than ever! Merci Pierre. Miss you!
