Leica Disto D8 Laser Distance Meter with iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch
In this video we'll show how to use this Leica Disto D8 Laser Distance Meter capture measurements into apps running on the iPad 2. This solution also works with iPhone and iPod Touch. Grid-In-Hand(tm) Mobile Grid is a powerful app for mobile data solutions, and will be used to show how Disto readings can easily be captured to a spreadsheet, no tap is required to get focus before reading. Here we have the Disto in constant read mode measuring distance, each measurement is captured in a new cell, when the data is ready to be sent, simply tap upload to send the Excel spreadsheet via email, FTP, SQL, or XML. Mobile Grid Action Profiles technology provides a rich solution environment. Processing can be done on each data packet received to the grid providing a wide range of powerful, yet easy-to-use solutions. Perform database lookups, perform location-aware actions, and much more. Disto data can be captured to all iOS apps that accept typed data, here we show data being posted to the Safari Browser, and the Notes app on an iPhone4. The Bluetooth connection to the iPad is made possible using the BlueSnap SPP-KEY Bridge. The bridge is a small battery powered device usable for 18 or 36 hours on a single charge depending on the model. Put the BlueSnap Bridge behind the iPad in a silicon cover, in a pocket, or wherever it's convenient. The Bridge works with all current iOS devices including iPhone and iPod Touch [co: iPhone 3GS and later, iTouch 3rd generation and later]. The BlueSnap Bridge also works with RFID-readers, barcode scanners, and any Bluetooth SPP device that sends ASCII data. BlueSnap Bridge setup is fast and easy and only needs to be done one time. [Setup can be done using the USB to RS-232 adaptor, bridge cable, and a terminal program. Discover the Distro using the bridge, and load the Bluetooth address of the Distro to the bridge, then turn on the bridge auto-connect switch. Now the bridge will connect to the Distro whenever it's powered on.] Setup can also be done with an Android tablet, or phone and the SerialMagic Gears app. For more information on the Bluetooth, and WiFi solutions for iOS, and Android please contact Serialio.com.
