Fighting the Media War - with Eylon Levy and Gil Hoffman
In addition to the battlefield where Israel’s soldiers are risking their lives every day, there is another “virtual” war going on that is influencing how people around the world are viewing what is happening in Gaza. Hostility towards Israel in much of the international news media is not a new story, but since October 7 it has taken on added importance. The Begin Center brought together two people on the frontline of this fight, to talk about their experiences of the past few months, and their assessment of what is happening in the media and why. In conversation with the Center's Senior Fellow Paul Gross were Eylon Levy, who was appointed an Israeli Government Spokesman at the beginning of the war; and Gil Hoffman, Executive Editor and Executive Director of HonestReporting, which fights for Israel in the international mainstream and social media. Eylon is also host of the State of a Nation podcast. He previously served as the international media advisor to the President of Israel after a career as a TV news anchor. Gil previously served for 24 years as chief political correspondent and analyst for The Jerusalem Post, where he is now a regular columnist.
