Obj 257 Amazing Russian Heavy tank ||World of tanks||
The Object 257 is a Soviet tier 9 heavy tank. The tank is a major armor upgrade from the IS-3. You will bounce a lot of shells with it. Some folks prefer the top gun from the IS-3 (BL-9) over the upgrade gun (BL-13). The reason for this is the BL-13 uses APCR for it's standard load. And the APCR has problems with normalization against armor. There is also a price difference from standard AP, but that is minimal at about 900 credits more per round. Experiment with both guns to see which you prefer, as the upgrade gun must be unlocked to get to the improved turret and the IS-7. Try to bait enemies into firing into your side armor by tanking in a 45° angle. Due to the "strange" armor layout beneath the outer plates many shells get absorbed and deal zero damage -- the side armor is nearly impenetrable to HEAT rounds because of this. Over-angling while sidescraping is very forgiving and track shots are less likely to do damage because of the very high ground clearance. The Object 257 tends to lose its ammo rack and driver when penetrated in the pike nose, so safe stowage is a skill you might keep in mind (the IS-7 also needs it).
