This series consists of moving images that show experimental aircraft and aircraft equipment manufactured by Lockheed, McDonnell Douglas, and Hiller for use by the U.S. Navy. The F5D-1 Skylancer rocket fire protection tests, the F4D Skyray fighter plane, the A4D-1 Skyhawk attack plane, the F3D-2 Skynight Gun Camera tests, the P2V-5 aircraft wingtip fuel tank wind tunnel tests, the XF2Y-1 Sea Dart fighter, and the Neptune reconnaissance aircraft are all featured. Gun camera tracers, automatic tracking systems, jettisoning characteristics of external fuel tanks, and fire extinguishing and detecting systems on the aircraft are all shown. Unusual footage of the modified Hiller VZ-1E Flying Platform is included.
