Insider English vs pseudo English

In this video, I discuss myths and simplifications about tenses and usage of "have". I defy the term "present perfect" as it doesn't actually serve us. "Have" shows a predisposition towards a condition or circumstance, rather than temporality. It expresses existentiality and experience. Combination "have to" is not a "semi-modal", either. "Have" denotes a situation or norm, while "to" indicates purpose or directionality. There is no future tense in English. Modals like "will" express mood and conditionality rather than just futurity. In the structure "going to" (more accurately "be + going + to") "to" indicates purpose or direction of the following phrase. Simplistic explanations in textbooks give misleading "rules" rather than analyze functional meaning and context. A lexical approach is preferable to generalized tenses. I aim to dispel myths and provide a more accurate understanding of structures like "have", modals, and tense/aspect in English from a functional perspective.
