New Refresh Rate switch in action on Steam Deck SteamOS Beta 3.2
New SteamOS 3.2 Beta for Steam Deck allows you to pick any refresh rate between 40 and 60 for better frame timings on demanding games that can't quite manage 60, but can do better than 30. You can see the frame timing I magnified in the top left. It's all over the place when it's trying to hit 60 fps, but a quick adjustment to 45 and the frame timings are perfect. Although the video is only 30 fps I can tell you visually looking at the screen, those frames lining up with the refresh has done away with any jitter or perceived stutter. I can work with 30 fps, but getting to 45 weirdly feels like more than half way to 60 in terms of just getting past that smoothness factor. I'm very happy! This is a game changer.
