A cinematic video of New Orleans 2022
My wife and I second time in New Orleans. This time we happen to arrive 1 week before Marty Gras. A lot of tourist from all over were already there but we were there for work. On the first two days we got real lucky and had beautiful days of pure sunshine and cool weather around 40-50 degrees Celsius. Most of our time there was consumed by work but the time we did have we made sure to walk to our favorite food spot called Cafe Beignet on Royal street. A beautiful little spot usually very busy serving very good Gumbo and exceptional beignets (fried dough with powdered sugar). We happen to stay at the Ritz Carlton which was at the center of everything. A huge historic hotel with a lot character and charm, like stepping into an era 100 years in the past. We saw a lot of beautiful architecture which was inspired heavily by the French. Unfortunately we did see a lot of poverty on the streets and many closed businesses. New Orleans has had a very dramatic history plagued by natural disasters such as hurricane Katrina which has put a heavy strain on their economy. Beyond natural disasters New Orleans has a dark past of slavery with many remnants still standing today. Overall I enjoyed New Orleans. The people are very friendly and exude that southern charm despite the hardship which can be felt to this day. Thank you for watching!
