Amur GCC carries out a unique logistics operation to deliver the site's largest piece of equipment
Amur GCC, a SIBUR and Sinopec joint venture which is set to become one of the world’s largest and most modern basic polymer production facilities, continues to carry out a unique logistics operation to deliver the site’s largest piece of equipment – the steam cracker column. The column sailed most of the route from the port of Masan (South Korea) on the cargo ship Sun Rise, before being loaded onto a mega-barge – the Tomsk – at the port of De-Kastri (the Khabarovsk Territory). The barge needed to be partially flooded with water to balance the barge load, after which it was towed to the mouth of the Amur River and further up the Zeya River to the Amur GCC pier. When delivered, the column will have travelled around 5,000 km in total. Meanwhile, at the steam cracker construction site, concrete for the base of the cracking furnaces has been poured and work has begun laying the foundations of the pyrogas wet cleaning plant. All other areas of the enormous AGCC site are following the construction roadmap closely.
