Fixing a Cinema Products CP16 16mm Camera.
This video shows a fix to the common problem with the Cinema Products CP16 motion picture camera. These otherwise superb cameras have an issue - the electronics. Whilst trail-blazing in it's day (the 70s), the crystal sync boards deteriorate with time and 8 out 10 fail with time. Instead of trying to isolate the fault with the original board(s), we've removed all of its electronics apart from it's original high quality motor. We've then built a custom box of new (simpler) electronics to control the motor speed. With this fix however, crystal sync is no longer possible, but a stable voltage controller board has been installed with good steady filming speeds achieved.
