Documenting instead of Creating

This is Richard Wilson from The Family Office Club. I want to record this short video, I'm actually overlooking the city of Houston here. We're hosting a conference here in the city today. I wanted to talk about documenting instead of creating. This as an idea I'm blatantly stealing from Gary Vaynerchuk. Because I'm here talking to people about raising capital and becoming a genuine, helpful expert in their niche space. What I feel like many people think is like, "How would I write an article? How would I write a white paper? I'm not a person to write a book. I don't give public speeches." I feel like that's what people are telling themselves when really they're making their lives harder than they have to. It's really about documenting your journey, being authentic about what you're learning, being authentic and transparent on what your investors are telling you, what challenges you have when it comes to deal flow. How you worked through a difficult real estate transaction or due diligence on a deal. It is by being transparent and showing your learning curve, and showing different iterations of your model and your progress over time, and being very consistent in documenting that journey, that you build a genuine following and people respecting the knowledge you've built. So I think if people would just worry less about overproduction and making things fancy, and just document their journey transparently, as Vaynerchuk always suggests, then I think they would be doing themselves a big favor. So I'm going to go in and talk about that in a minute at our event. But I wanted to record a short video about that here, because even now we're doing seven hours of content on capital-raising here today, I feel like this point ... I'm halfway through the day ... that it's been missed, that all you need to do is document, not create. So stop making it a big pressure thing. You're holding yourselves up to a TV production quality standard. Because all that does is make it feel over-polished and non-genuine.
